Working
from my perceptions of this world that surrounds me, I work largely from
intuition. Concepts find their way into my work helping me to
understand, and come to peace with things I ponder about. I enjoy the
feel and workability of steel and how it interacts with other materials,
specifically wood and stone. The fluidity of water and the combination
of stone and steel, has been strong influences in my recent work. Some
of my pieces are brought about by a specific concept, bringing a thought
or idea into three dimensions, sometimes it makes more sense to me when
I can see and touch a thought. While some pieces are aimed at relaying a
message or idea, others are based more around the aesthetic flow of the
elements and lines created. I let each piece evolve at it’s own rate,
usually having several pieces in the works at any given time. While some
take days, other pieces take years to complete, though like any story
each has a beginning and an end. Art is a form of therapy and reasoning
for me, art is a way for me to look at life from new angles, a way to
see what others might see. Art for me is a way to open up and experience
something different and new, which keeps teaching me about the world
that surrounds me, you, and them. |
